FlightFabric 0.12.3: more flexible push-to-talk and a roomier Logbook

Want one key for push-to-talk instead of a keyboard combination? FlightFabric 0.12.3 adds that option, fixes several ways voice input could get stuck between commands, and gives the Logbook map more room.

FlightFabric is still in public alpha. Aircraft testing isn’t complete, even for the most developed integrations. Check the cockpit after sending a command, and have a look at the support and testing notes for your aircraft.

Ready for the next voice command

Push-to-talk now recovers better if you interrupt a command or disconnect an input device. I’ve also fixed microphone cleanup after completed and cancelled commands, so the next attempt has a better chance of starting normally.

Choose a single key for push-to-talk

You can now assign a single keyboard key instead of a combination. Options include Caps Lock and either the left or right Ctrl, Alt, Shift and Windows keys.

For a modifier key on its own, press and release it in the shortcut recorder, or select it from the modifier list. Push-to-talk pauses while you’re choosing a new shortcut. Your old one stays assigned until you save.

No keyboard shortcut is assigned by default.

Check your simulator bindings: the push-to-talk key now reaches MSFS, or whichever app is in front, as well as FlightFabric. Pick something that won’t trigger another control. Ctrl, Alt and the other modifiers still do their usual jobs, and Caps Lock still changes capitalisation.

More room to review your flight

On desktop, the flight summary and replay controls take up less height, leaving more space for the map. Alerts sit beside the flight measurements when there’s room.

On phones, controls still wrap onto another line and the buttons stay large enough to tap.

How to update

Finish your flight before updating.

  • Using FlightFabric 0.12.2: open Settings > About to check for updates, download the update, then choose Restart and update.
  • Updating manually, or using 0.12.1 or earlier: quit FlightFabric from the system tray, then run the Windows installer. Your settings and recordings stay in their current locations.
  • Using the MSFS toolbar panel: close MSFS, open Settings > MSFS 2024 toolbar panel, choose Update or Reinstall, then restart the simulator.

Thanks for testing FlightFabric and sending feedback. Those reports help me track down the things that are getting in the way.
