FlightFabric 0.12.2: in-app updates and easier Windows setup

Download FlightFabric 0.12.2 for Windows · Free public alpha for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

One more manual install, then updates from the app

If you’re on 0.12.1 or earlier, you’ll need to download and run the installer for this update. Finish your flight first, then choose Quit FlightFabric from the system tray. Closing the main window only hides it. Your settings and recordings stay where they are.

Download now, install after the flight

From 0.12.2, you can download supported desktop updates in Settings > About. There’s a progress indicator, plus cancel and retry options. Downloading the update won’t restart FlightFabric in the middle of your flight.

Once you’ve finished flying, save or discard any unsaved Settings changes and choose Restart and update. Installation starts when you ask it to.

If the update won’t complete, use the installer link in the app or get the latest version from the download page and install it manually.

One less thing to install separately

The installer now includes the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime used by the simulator connection and voice features. It checks whether you already have it, so you don’t need to track it down yourself. Setup will tell you if it can’t continue or Windows needs a restart.

Voice fixes

I’ve tightened up how the microphone is released after push-to-talk and voice tests. This helps prevent one finished or cancelled attempt from getting in the way of the next.

If offline voice can’t start, the sidebar explains how to fully quit and reopen FlightFabric. The message goes away once voice is working again. You don’t have to dig into Settings to find it.

Updating the MSFS toolbar

The MSFS toolbar keeps its separate update process. Close MSFS, then choose Update or Reinstall under Settings > MSFS 2024 toolbar panel in FlightFabric. Restart the simulator afterwards. The toolbar setup guide has more detail.

FlightFabric remains a public alpha with incomplete aircraft support. The Windows installer is still unsigned; see the installation help for Windows prompts. Read the full 0.12.2 release notes for details and current limitations.

Thanks for testing the updates and letting me know when something goes wrong.
