FlightFabric 0.9.9: easier phone setup and clearer flight debriefs

FlightFabric 0.9.9 makes it easier to put a phone or tablet beside the sim. It also adds more context to landing debriefs and fixes a few aircraft controls that weren’t behaving as they should.

This was an earlier public alpha release, and aircraft testing is still incomplete, even for the most developed integrations. Check the result in the cockpit and read the current aircraft support and testing notes before deciding what to try.

What’s new

Easier phone and tablet setup

On the simulator PC, enable phone and tablet access in Settings, then save and restart FlightFabric. With both devices on the same trusted private network, open Phone setup on the PC. Scan the private QR code to pair, or type the short address for a read-only dashboard. To get aircraft controls after typing the address, choose Request aircraft controls on the device and approve the matching code on the PC.

Clearer landing debriefs

Landing summaries, Timeline and Logbook now show the approach score together with the specific cautions that recovered. You can still open the full assessment, and serious warnings or insufficient data stay visible. Touchdown distance also gets a distance and zone description, rather than a pass or fail against an optional target.

More dependable PMDG controls

Strobe-light voice commands are more consistent on supported aircraft. On the PMDG 737, turning the strobes off leaves the steady navigation lights on and avoids moving a switch that’s already off. The PMDG 737 and 777 APU start switches also have more time to register before START is released.

Supporting FlightFabric

There’s now a small Donate button in the desktop footer that opens FlightFabric’s Ko-fi page. I’ve simplified the website’s Donate buttons too.

How to update

After your flight, close FlightFabric. Download the current installer from the Windows download page, run it and follow the setup steps. Then start FlightFabric with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 running. The full 0.9.9 release notes remain available for reference.

There are also fixes to connection and recording reliability, along with dependency updates and refreshed third-party notices.
